my promised name

Afeni Shakur, became a member of the Black Panther movement as a teen in 1964.

She said, "they took my rage and channelled it, educated my mind and gave me direction".

The passion of her cause however led to conspiracy convictions, resulting in her imprisonment. During this time she was pregnant, and two months after being released she gave birth to Tupac Amaru Shakur; an Inca name meaning "Shining Serpent".

Another iconic black women has passed but may her wisdom inspire the youth of our generation

What's your perception on the black youth of our generation?

The representation of black youth I believe has struck a pause. Tupac's belief in a Black Man's destiny is being forgotten within our time...questioning the future icon for black youth.

This strength has been pushed through different avenues, not uplifting and motivating but however provoking turmoil.

Why are we so confused as to where to exert these vibrations and exhibit maximum strength/energy?

Give music the opportunity to take you back, make you reflect and give you understanding. Allow the legacy to tell you stories.  "Please wake me up when I am free. I cannot bear captivity. For, I would rather be stricken blind than to live without expression of the mind". Tupac Amaru Shakur
